Motueka. Harbor Board.— Additional i by-laws adopted and passed at a specie! 1 meeting of the Board held on Feb 27th, are adveitised to day. The new bylaws came into force on Tuesdav last.

Through the week Mr Ida mires gives addresses on “Man-Sine-s and Christianity.” All the above meetings will be held in the Methodist Chu-ch.

We learn that a number of prizetakers in the fruit class at the recent Horticultural Show intend to enter exhibits of apples for competition at the Devin Society’s Show, to be held on Wednesday the 10th inst. It will be interesting to knovv how fruit from this district compares with that grown elsewhere.

Advance Ficton !—At a special meeting of the Picton Borough Council held last week it was decided to borrow the sum of .£2,500 for the purpose of a drainage scheme for a certain area of tun Borough, according to the plans and specifications submitted by Mr Rash* Reynolds. In answer- to a quo tion the Mayor ('Dr Redman ) said the scheme proposed was the first port on of a larger one to embrace the wh do town—to be taken in hand at som i future date.

At the last meeting of the Motueka Borough Council the following resolution was unanimously carried, on tae motion of Crs Jordan and Fry: “That owing to the unseemly conduct of some of the excursionists on the occasion of the last visit of the Nelson Citizens’ Band to Motueka the permit for Sunday concerts for the future be \v th’aeld from the Band.” His Worship said some of the excursionists by their conduct had offered not only un insult tc the Wharfinger, but to the people of the district. The Wharfinger ha 1 gone out of his way to open one of the sheds for some of the excursionists’ convenience on the night in question, as it was- raining. One of the party had smashed the office window on the wharf and the conduct of a number of others was not becoming.
