MOUNT IDA W.R. TRUST
The monthly meeting of the Mount Ida Water-race Trust was held in the County Council Chambers on Friday, April 26th. Present—Messrs Wm. Guffie (Chairman), Mitchell, Hjorring and Forrester. MINUTES. The minutes of the last monthly meeting were read and confirmed. COItKESPONDENCE. A letter was read from Mr. T. Andrews, Holnihrook, complaining of the state of the bridges crossing the channel. He stated that the slt was settling on ground outside the reserve, and that he and Mr. K. R. Hore were prepared to scrub the channel and confine the water, provided the Trust paid half the cost. A letter was also read from Mr. T. Screen, complaining of his summary dismissal after a long srrvice of 13 years in the employ of the Trust, and asking that a mouth's pay be given him, in lieu of a month's notice. Resolved :—That the Mauagor be requested to report to next meeting the state of the channel and condition of bridges iu Home Gully on the sections occupied by Mr. T. Andrews and R. R. Hore. Proposed by Mr. Hjorring .-—That Mr. T. Screen's letter be received. There being no seconder, the motion lapsed. Proposed by Mr. W. Ouffie, and seconded by Mr. Forrester : -That Mr. T. Screen's letter be not received. —Motion curried, Mr. Hjorring voting against it. ma.vageu's TtEPOIiT. The first week in this month I had a fair supply of water in the head-race, buc since then there has been no rain to speak of, and of course the water dropped oil ajrain. very quickly. I have now scarcely lour Government heads to work with. I have also to repoit that Mr. Screen was away from his hi etion without leave o.i Friday, the 2Sth March, and it a very wet nip/lit, I felt it my dutv to di-itlmrjje him at the end of the month. I have put on another man (John Tait) in his place since the Ist of April—The sale of water this month up to date has been £77 Ss •Id, r.n.'l the receipts for the same period £OS 14s. Received. FINANCE. Resolved : —That the following sums be bo passed for payment, \ iz. : —Maintenance of head race, £3l 4s ; channel, £ll 13s ; management, £l9 10s ; cleaning head race, Spec Gully, etc., £S 13s Stl : office rent, £4 Ss ; matting for ci-anncl, 10s ; law expenses, £5 6s. Total, t'S) 4s Sd.
