MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
At-the Levin sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., Carl Petersen was charged by the Main Highways Board that on December 6th, he opei’ated on the main highway a heavy motor vehicle carrying a load exceeding eight feet in width. Inspector'J. E. Ainsworth stated that the load in question, which had consisted of flax, had been of a gross width of lift. 3in., or 3ft. 3in. in excess of: the maximum width permissable. The offence, which was defendant’s first appearance, had been committed on the FoxtonLevin highway.
The Magistrate pointed out the seriousness of the offence, which, lie stated, could easily prevent other drivers from passing, and might cause them accident.
A fine of £2 was imposed, with costs amounting to 17/6.
