THE GAS WORKS.
OCTOBER WORKING. At last night’s meeting of he Foxton Borough Council the treasurer reported that during the month of October 291,400 cubic feet of gas AVas manufactured at the local gas avoi'lcs, Avhich with the amount in the holder on the Ist of the month, 12,807 cubic feet, made a total of 304,207 cubic feet. Of this amount 237,700 cubic feet was sold to consumers, 27,100 cubic feet Avas used at the Avorks and there Avas 12,807 cubic feet in the holder at the end of the month, making 277,607 cubic feet accounted for and leaving 26,600 cubic feet, representing 8.7 per cent., unaccounted for. Twenty-six tons of coal Avas carbonised, producing 11,207 cubic feet of gas to the ton. There Avas 114 tons of coal on hand at October 31st and half a ton of coke.
'The gas manager reported that the plant Avas operating satisfactorily and that consumers’ Avants had been attended to.
