REQUEST FOR HYDERABAD’S CANNON. At last night’s meeting of the Foxton Borough Council, a letter was received from the Waitarere Domain Board, asking the Council if it would be prepared to hand oyer to the Board the old cannon at present held by it and located in Ihalkiara Gardens. 'The Board desired to have the cannon mounted, with a suitable inscription at Waitarere, near the scene of the wreck. The Mayor said the gun had been .salvaged by Mr H. Coley and brought to Foxton. Jt had passed through many hands and finally was donated to the Foxton, Beautifying Society by Mr C. Easton and through , the Society came into the hands of the Council. For sentimental reasons lie would not like lo see the trophy go a.wav from Foxton.
It was decided to advise the Domain Board that for sentimental reasons it was regretted that the Council could not hand over the g«n.
