PARLIAMENT ADJOURNS TO-DAY.
SEVERAL BILLS PASSED. After a session extending over 19 weeks and a half the House of Representatives wilH adjourn todav for a recess of approximately three months. Eleven Bills were passed yesterday. Six of these were Government Bills, and the remaining five local Bills. The greater part of
. tfye day .was taken up with the - committee stages of the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Bill giving effect to the more important recommendations of the Dairy Industry Commission, including the estab- ' lishment of an Executive Commission of Agriculture and the reconstitution of the Dairy Board. ; The Government had brought down
an amendment whereby members of the commission could be engaged in other paid employment, but in view of the many objections to this course the Government agreed to ' the reinsertion of the clause. The exception will be the Minister of Agriculture, who will be entitled to retain his Parliamentary and executive remuneration. The division on the short title gave the Government a majority of 37 votes to 26. The other Government Bills passed were the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, the Local Legislation Bill, the Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill, the iCSnematograph Films Amendment Bill, and the Native Purposes Bill. Shortly before the adjournment a Companies (Bondholders- Incorporation) Bill 1 was introduced. This Bill, which provides for the incorporation of e the holders of bonds issued by certain afforestation and other com-panies,-will be proceeded with when the flouse resumes again next year.
