What is claimed to .be the tiniest china set in the -world was lately on show in Hamburg. Made of Meissen porcelain, it to oh three artists worjking 10 hours a day almost two years to complete it. The set consists of a dinner, a breakfast, and a toilet set for 12 •persons, numbering 142 pieces in all. It is a miniature counterpart of the Meissen service manufactured at the time for the present King of Italy’s coronation. Some idea of its weight and size of the set may be obtained from the fact that six cups and saucers, a beverage pot, cream pitcher, and sugar bowl weigh together only 18 grammes, and find plenty of room in a matchbox 1 Technically as well as artistically this miniature set is complete in all details. It is said that 300 beverage pots had to be fashioned before this perfect one took shape, and 90,000 pieces before the entire servce of reached perfection. Approximatey 200,000 marks (£16,000) are said to have been offered, but the owners, who reside in Saxony, wish that this piece of Herman art should remain in Germany. TVom time to time it is exhibited in various large cities.
