FOXTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Foxton District High School Committee was held last evening, presided over by Mr W. R. McKenzie. Also present were Messrs P. J. Mairs, I. W. Mudford, 11. J. Reid, and the secretary (Mr R. Rangiheuea). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. K. Hornblow, G. F. Smith, M. E. Perrcau and S. E. Cowley. The Board wrote advising the committee of the set-back in the grading of the Secondary Department, and of its intention to determine Mr C. Smith’s appointment at (he end of January next. It was decided to place on record the committee’s appreciation of the effort's of the teaching staff and ethers in connection wjth the recent successful school ball. It Avas decided to hold a shop day on Saturday, November 24th, and Messrs Perreau and Smith were deputed to confer with the teaching staff re same. It was decided to ask the Board to proceed at the earliest possible date with the laying down of tennis courts on the new playing area in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by the Board’s architect. Accounts amounting to £24 6/9 were passed for payment. Messrs Perreau and Smith were appointed visitors for the month.
