FOXTON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

FAREWELL TO MISSES M. AND J. STEVENSON. On Friday afternoon the committee members of thS Foxton Women’s Institute met at the residence of Mrs Richardson, Futter St. In the unavoidable absence of Mrs E. Titcombe (President) Mrs F. Procter (vice-president) took the chair. At the conclusion of the bus’ness Mrs Procter, on behalf of the committee members, took the opportunity of bidding farewell to the Misses Stevenson, who are leaving the district. Mrs Procter referred to the excellent work carried out by the Misses Stevenson —Miss M. Stevenson as a committee member, and by "Miss J. Stevenson as secretary. She then called on the guests of the afternoon to accept small tokens of appreciation in the form of a cake basket and a nut bowl, together with two beautiful bouquets of roses and maiden hair fern.

Miss J. Stevenson, replying on behalf of her sister and herself, thanked the committee for its gift and good wishes. She said they would carry away many happy memories of Foxton and the Women’s Institute where they had made so

uanv friends. They both deeply regretted having to leave Foxton. Musical honours were accorded the Misses Stevenson, after which the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair and to the hostesses: Mesdames Short! and Richardson, for the use of the room and for the delicious afternoon tea provided.
