Brother F. L. Smith, N.G., of Foxton Lodge, welcomed the visitors and expressed pleasure at the presence of such a large number. He then called upon local members to extend Lodge honours to the visitors. Secretary Bro. W. G. Nye added a few words of welcome, saying the members appreciated such visits for they afforded an opportunity for the smaller branches to become acquainted with the methods of the city Lodges. Brother Freeman suitably replied. For the entertainment of those present the visitors conducted a mock initiation ceremony, including the complete service of odes together with musical accompaniment (Sister Price officiating at the piano) which was much appreciated. .Bro. D. T. Bilks, P.D.G.M., expressed his pleasure at being present, stating that- he always held a soft spot in his heart for Foxton. He mentioned that it was when a child at Foxton he first saw a ship, the old “Queen of the South.” He also detailed an early trip down the Manawatu River from Palmerston North in a homo m'ade boat, which adventure took the form- of a two days’ journey and contained many interesting incidents. Bro. W. G. Nye was again nominated for a position on the District Management Committee. The Purple Degree was conferred on Bro. W. Howe by the Past Grand members of the Order present. At the conclusion of Lodge business the visitors were entertained to a social evening, including dancing and games. A very enjoyable supper was also provided.
