OBITUARY.
IMR EDWARD PACKER COWLES, AGED 63 YEARS. There passed away at Hamilton on Sunday an old and well-known Foxton resident in the person of Mr Edward. Pa dice r Cowles, aged 63 years. Deceased was a resident in Foxton forty years ago, and married a sister of Mrs W. E. Bai'ber in Foxton in 1896. Deceased was a member of the local Telegraph Department and took a very prominent part in various local activities. He was interested in all branches of sport, particularly rowing, being a member of the Foxton Rowing Club at that time. He was also a keen church member and a lay reader in All Saints’ Church. He was transferred to Wellington from Foxton and later was stationed at Feilding. Subsequently he was promoted to the posit on of telegraph engineer at Hamilton which office he held until he retired. On leaving the service he remained in Hamilton where his death occurred on Sunday.
