TOTALISATOR DUTY.
RELIEF FOR RACING CLUBS. An increase in the amount of totalisator duty which may he retained by racing clubs is provided for in a clause in the Finance Bill (No. 3). The clause provides that during the period from. April 1, 1935, to July 31, 1936, clubs may retain one-fifth of the amount of the duty. The Minister of Finance. Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, said that clubs liad previously retained one-tenth of the duty but in view of the fact that they were facing a difficult financial position, it had been decided to give them this additional relief.
