WEDDING.

BARBER—QUARRIE. A most picturesque night wedding which was celebrated on Wednesday, October 3rd, at the Methodist Church, Shannon, was that of Vera Lillian Quarrie, fifth daughter of Mr and Mi's G. Quar- • rie, of Shannon, and Ewen Henry Barber, only son of Mrs and the late Mr H. Barber. Shannon. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride and Miss M. Ingley, of Palmerston North rendered the bridal music. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. McDonald (Foxton). Mrs -S. Morrison, sister of the bride,, sang a solo, “My Prayer.” The bride wore a beautiful gown of ivory georgette, the bodice fitting closely to the hip-line and the skirt with lace godets fulling to the feet in a full flare. Her long beautifully embroidered tulle veil was kept in place on the head by a i band of ora. ge blossoms, and a lovely sheaf bouquet cl white camelias and Lily of the Vahey was carried. She entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away, and was attended by her « sister, Miss Joyce Quar Ac (chief), and neioi, Miss Joan Johnson (Paraparaumu). The bridesmaids were prettily attired in frocks of lemon and orange French crepe-de-chene with closely fitting bodices, the skjrts falling 10 the feet in a full fare with godets of rouching in the sides, back and front A velvet ribbon was worn at the waist line with a bow in the centre front. Satin shoes to tone, lemon and gold flowered bandeaux with bouquets of gold and lemon Iceland poppies made a charming finish. They also wore gold bracelets, gifts- of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by Mr G. Sorenson, of Levin, as best man, Mr H. 0. Barber (Rangiotu) acting as groomsman. Miss Mavis Hook (neiee of the bride) presented the bride with a silver horseshoe as she left the j church. . r

A reception was afterwards held in the Parish Hall, Mrs G. Qnarrie, mother of the bride, receiving the guests in a charming frock of navy figured maroeain. She wore a hat and coat to.tone and carried a bouquet of pale lemon primroses. Mrs Barber mother of the bridegroom, wore a model frock of black silk chevronette with coat and hat to match and carried a bouquet of cherry anemones.

Later the happy couple left for ■ n motor ‘tour of the North Island, reviving with them the good wishes „f a. large circle of friends.
