COLLISION IN MAIN STREET.
BETWEEN LORRY AND MOTOR CYCLE. A collision occurred at the intersection of Main and Clyde Streets at 5 p.m. on Thursday between a motor lorry driven by Mr M. Baird and a motor cycle ridden by Mr E. Field. Mr Field was proceeding up Main Street in a northerly direction and Mr Baird was aboiit to turn into Clyde St. when the accident! occurred, he having approached the intersection jrom. the north. The cycle struck the front bumper of the lorry with, considerable force, driving the guard right back into the tyre. Mr Field was fortunate in not being run over by the true]:. He sustained fairly extensive bruises and abrasions to his legs and suffered from shock. The machine sustained! broken front forks but was not extensively damaged.
