SCHOOL ENTRANCE AGE.
RETURN TO FIVE YEARS URGED. A claim that parents should again be allowed to enrol their children in the public schools at the age of five years is contained in a series of petitions presented to the House of Representatives on Tuesday. The petitioners state that the raising of the permissive age of attendance has deprived many young children of the conditions necessary for their proper development. The repeal of the appropriate legislation is requested “with due recognition of the financial position of the Dominion.”
