GIFT EVENING.
BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED. Tn honour of her marriage, which is to take place in Wellington shortly, Hiss Lena do Rosa was tendered a gift evening-in the Town Hall supper-room on Tuesday over sixty friends being present. Dancing interspersed with much-appre-ciated vocal items rendered by Messrs J. B. Mnopherson, W. M. Thomas, and 11. E. Fairev, and Mrs Thomas whiled away a most enjoyable evening. The accompaniments were played by Miss E. Patterson, Mrs Thomas and Mrs 11. Fairev, and the dance music by Mr L. Mafiar, S. Spring, and Mrs Fairev.
During the evening a Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr J. Hale and Miss Hodge, and a statue dance by Mr Spring and Miss R. King. Mr Hinds carried out the duties of M.C.
After a dainty supper had been dispensed, Mr Hinds called upon Miss do Rosa to open the numerous parcels. Mr S. J. Harvey, on behalf of Mr Almao, of Wellington, who was unable to be present, expressed sincere thanks to those present for their gifts and also those responsible for the evening. Miss do Rosa also expressed her thanks. The singimr of “Auld Lang Syne” concluded a happy gathering.
Miss L. de Rosa, whose marriage- takes place shortly in Wellington, was tendered a farewell party at the residence of her sister, Mrs H. E. Fairev, 132 Grey St., Palmerston N. hist Saturday evening. The guests, numbering thirty each brought the hride-eleet a suitable gift for the future home. Games and dancing were indulged in. Items were rendered by Miss Joan Thompson (elocutionary), Messrs H. E. Fairev. S. W. Jones (songs), and S. J. Harvey, of Eoxton (musical monologues). The evening was brought to a conclusion with the expression of best wishes to Miss de Rosa and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
