REBATE ON RATES.
WHERE THE MONEY CAME FROM.
The Acting Minister of Public Works has informed the Farmers’ Union, which has been pressing for a continuance of the 12 i per cent, rebate on rates, that the Government obtained from the surplus held by the Main Highways Board’s revenue account the money to make the rebate in 1931-32, but the Board will not have any reserve this year and therefore no hope could be held out that the rebate would be given on general ordinaries.
