Under the will of Kathleen Charlotte Hardeastle Board of TrusWanganui on January 23, 1932, the residue of her estate was placed in trust to pay an income to the Charlottee Hardeastle Board of Trustees for the maintenance, benefit and support of any gentlewoman who had (been domiciled in Wanggpui for a period of at least 50 years. A clause in the will reads 'as follows: —“I express my wish and desire that the persons to benefit under the provisions shall be persons of refinement and good character’, who have an income to purchase for themselves the necessaries of life, but not sufficient to maintain themselves in reasonable comfort.” There were four life tenants under the will, and one of these was Dora Gill, of Christchurch, whoso death occurred recently. Under her will, of which the Public Trustee is executor and trustee, provision is made for a certain life interest, but the sum of £IOOO is bequeathed upon trust to pay income in perpetuity to the Charlotte Hardeastle Board of Trustees.
