The following miscellaneous information is given in the Abstract of Statistics for July: : — Vital Statistics, 1927.—Numbers, births, ,27,881; marriages, 10,478; deaths, 11,613; deaths of infants under one year, 1080. Rates per 1000 of mean population: Births, 20.29; marriages, 7.62; deaths, S.-15; infant mortality, rate per 1000 births, 38.74. Live-stock in Dominion, 1928 (preliminary figures).— Horsbs, 307,140; cattle, 3,273,588 (including 1,352,513 dairy cows in milk and dry); sheep,, 27,001,236; pigs, 586,704. Agriculture.—Acreages, 1927-28 (preliminary figures) : Wheat, 260,250; oats, 86,076; barley, 21,152; ryegrass, 23,877; cocksfoot, 11,502.
