INTOXICATED MOTORIST.

MAGISTRATE ISSUES WARNING

£25 FINE INFLICTED,

Wanganui, Yesterday

A warning was issued to motorists at the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court by Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., in connection with intoxicated men driving cars. Air Barton said that he would deal very severely with persons in this state who caused accidents while driving cars. If heavy fines did not have the desired result, it was his intention to impose imprisonment without giving the option of a, fine. Air Barton expressed this opinion in his summing up, when he fined George Herbert Green £25 on a charge of driving a car, on September 25, while in a state of intoxication. On charges of driving in a negligent manner and also for driving without a license, Green was convicted and discharged.
