BOWLING
The weather was ideal for the “working bee” on the local green yesterday afternoon, and a number of necessary works were attended to, there being a fair number present.
At a meeting of the Committee, the opening day was definitely fixed for Wednesday, 12tli October. The secretary was instructed to forward invitations to kindred clubs in the district. It was decided that the catering for the opening day be carried out on the same lines as last year, vi/.., howlers and croquet players'to provide a basket. The secretary of the Croquet Club was auth-
orised to purchase some necessary material. The Committee decided to employ the caretaker permanently at a specified number of hours per week as from sth proximo, until circumstances warrant an alteration in such arrangement.
The Feilding green will he officially opened on Saturday next, and the Secretary of the local Club has received an invitation to members of the local Club to he present.
The Bulls green will he opened oil Wednesday next.
The Secretary reported at .yesterday's meeting of the Committee that he would be pleased to receive as many subscriptions as he possibly can pet within the next few days, in order to put the Club’s finances in proper order. Interest on overdraft amounts to a considerable sum during the year, and if members will come forward with subscriptions their action will not only be appreciated, but the saving will be such as to benefit the club materially, and provide funds for the carrying out of necessary work.
