PICTURE SHOW

The new dynamo for the picture entertainments has now arrived and will be used for the first time at the picture show on Wednesday night. Being a much mote powerful one than that at present in use, the films will get a stronger light and thus will be thrown out steadier and clearer.

The programme for Wednesday which is advertised elsewhere in this issue, is a good one, and should be responsible for a full house.

< “ Mushroom Growing,” an industrial film will be a very attractive subject. There are four dramas and all four are good stirring items. “ The Flag of His Country ” is a patriotic story of great interest, “ The Floating Message” aud “The Mission Carrier,” are two pretty dramas, and one of the ever popular class entitled, “ The Sheriff and the Man.” A quaint aud and interesting scenic film, “ Sports in Judo China ” is well worth seeing. “The Pathe Gazette, 54” will provide the usual current topics with great clearness. The comics are as comical as ever. “ His Best Girl’s Eittle Brother ” would make a cat laugh, aud “The Two Valentines ” is a very pretty and highly amusing comedy, and “ Fools head's Odd Adventure ” is one of the most laughable items ever seen. TAYEOR-CARRINGTON COMPANY. The new dramatic company which the Taylor-Carrington management have specially reorganised for the production of an entirely new Irish drama, entitled “The Land o’ th’ Shamrock,” will appear at the Town Hall, Foxton, on Thursday night, in that play for positively one night only. “The Land 0’ th’ Shamrock ” is founded upon one of Lovers’ best Irish novels, and the scene is laid in the stirring .lays of ’9B. Some very beautiful scenery has been painted in Melbourne especially tor the play, aud will be brought to Foxton for the production. The play is said to Lave all the elements of success in ii, for it is by turns amusing, sensational, patriotic aud emotional. Mr Charlie Taylor, as the hero, has a splendid comedy character 10 impersonate, and our exchanges say that Mr Taylor’s Rory is quite equal to his Conn th€ Shaughraun, which is saying a great deal. Miss Eiia Carrington has a strong dramatic character in the heroine, and the company m support are well fitted to the parts they play. Irish drama is always a very favourite form of amusement with local playgoers, so there is sure to be a crowded house on Thursday night to witness “The Land 0’ th’ Shamrock,” by the Taylor-Car-rington New Dramatic Company.
