TENNIS.
An inter-club friendly match, Foxton v. Levin, was played on the local courts on Saturday and resulted in a decisive victory for the visitors by 96 to 48 gam?s. The male visitors showed supe rior play over opponents, although the local players bad luck against them. Macdonald deserved credit for his gameness in handling the racquet at all on Saturday in face of the fact that an hour or so previous he had been battling against a fiery opponent which had downed him to the tune of nearly Anyhow, he’s a game ’un. The local ladies, however, more than held their own against the visitors, and they were not at all in best form. The match was not played on points but on games. The lady members of the club kindly supplied afternoon tea, which was presided over by Miss Jessie Ross, and much appreciated.
