It will be noticed that the live stock classes are exceptionally comprehensive, and all classes of stock will be well represented. The show is essentially metropolitan, inasmuch as every province in the North Island is represented, besides Nelson and Canterbury in the South Island. The Manawatu Kennel Club is well supported with entries from all parts of the Dominion.

The programme for the show can be summarised somewhat as follows: —

Wednesday, October 30th. —A number of the pony classes and the harness horses are judged, besides competitions in the show ring, the principal of these being the Maiden Hunters’ Competition, in which 32 horses are competing. The pigs and poultry are also judged on the first day. The art, industrial, public school, needlework, and home industries divisions, for which there are some 1100 entries, will require something like 500 ft of space. This department will open from 9 o’clock on the first day of the show, the judging taking place before the opening, date. On Thursday, October 31st, which is the principal day for judging cattle and sheep, there is always a large attendance of farmers. The public are entertained in the show ring by the Hunters’ Competition for lady riders, 26 horses competing, and a steeplechase riders’ competition, for which 31 riders are entered. The Manawatu Kennel Club’s exhibits are judged on this day. Friday, November xst, is known as People’s Day, and is mostly given up to the exhibition of stock and competitions in the show ring, which latter include competitions for ponies, lady riders and drivers, and the Hunters’ Competition for the 40 Guinea Challenge Cup and ,£45 in prizes, 40 horses being entered in this event. This is followed by the Lloyd Lindsay Competition, in which six squadrons are competing. Intending visitors should note that excursion fares prevail on the railways. The show is well worth a visit from those interested in agriculture, and even the general public will find profit and pleasure in paying it a visit. A large number of novelties will be found in the side show division, and something like 1 >2 acres will be required to accommodate this feature of the amusements.
