Foxton Borough Council.

Ad ordinary meeting of the above Council was held at the Libraiy buildings, yesterday, at 2 pm. Present— The Mayor (T. P. Williams), Crs Jenks, Hamer, McPherson, Austin and Brudcock. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following inwards correspondence was read : — Department of Justice stating that the Horowhenua County Counhad been appointed to have authority under " The Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act 1898 " for the Licensing District of Otaki. Hospital and Charitable Aid Board notifying Council to cease giving rations to Mrs Allan and would write further after next meeting of Board. J. B. McMillan applying for a certificate for an Auctioneer's License. T. Cook, asking permission to carry If yards metal as the roads are now dry. The following resolutions were agreed to : — Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenks, That tenders be called for erecting flood-gates at Duck creek, labour only. Tenders to close on the Bth January at noon> and to be accepted by the Public Works Committee. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Hamer, That Thomas Francis Gibson make the valuation of all properties within the Borough of Foxton for ensuing year. The valuation to be made under the 1876 Rating Act (Annual value). Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Hamer, That the registration fee for dogs for the ensuing year shall be 5s per dog, excepting dogs which arc used exclusively for destruction of rabbits, th6 fee for which dogs shall be 2s 6d per dog, owner of rabbit dogs to produce a written certificate from the Secretary of the Rabbit Extermination Society. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Bradcock, That leave of absence be granted to the clerk for 14 days from the 9th of January, 1894 proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by CrTHanfer, That Mr Cook's letter be received but the Council decline to alter the contract. The following were the only tenders received : — For collecting dog-tax — P. Guerin at Is per dog. j For lamp-lighting— -3. McGill at 68a per lamp. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenks, That P. Giierin's tender for collecting dog*tax be accepted at one shilling per dog. Proposed by Cr Austin, seoonded by Or Bradcook, That the tender of J. McGill for lai\ap4ighting be accepted at 68s per lamp. Proposed by Cr Jenkfli seconded by Or Bradcock, That the tinder of
