The Anarchists are showing increased activity throughout Italy. Bombs were exploded in private residence in Rome, in the Finance Department in Naples, and in a village church near Masaa, but luckily the outrages were not attended with loss of life. Thirty Anarchists have been arrested at Leghorn, five at Havre, and one at Lisbon for having dynamite in their possession. Upwards of 8000 dynamite cartridges, which it is believed were intended for the Paris Anarchists, have been intercepted in Belgium. Eighteen bombs were discovered in Galataz, and it is believed " the plant " was connected with the Rusfcchtfk conspiracy. Ravachol is being tried for the murder of a hermit, to which he confessed, and in the event of his acquittal he will probably be sent to Noumea. President Carnot has prosecuted jthe Archbishop of Aix and the ; jßjshop , of . <Meude- : foct ; delivering * political sermons. - ; The Archbishop of Aix has summoned a State Council of the clergy to consider, the action of the Government. Three hundred Anarchists have been arrested in Northern Italy, and the Government has dissolved twenty two Anarchist workmen's societies in various parts of the country. Paris is virtually in a stage of siege, and the shops will universally be closed on May Day. A great force of cavalry and infantry have been supplied with ball cartridge, and are quartered in the barracks and at the police stations. Squads of police are stationed . throughout, the city* No crowds are to : be allowed to collect. . ' , , . In Marseilles great military precautions have been taken to prevent outrage. Therot, who gave testimony against Ravachol, has fled from Paris. : The Cafe American and the Cafe Anglais, two of the leading hotels in Paris,are threatened by Anarchists.
