Vestry Meeting.

« A vestry meeting of All Saints' Church, Foxton, was held on Monday evening a 8 o'clock. Present — The Eev. Innes- Jones (in the chair), Messrs Easton, Startup, Rhodes, Bramley, Coley, and MoClosky. The minutes of the last meeting wqre read and confirmed. A vote of thanks was unanimously passed to Mr McKenzie for his services as organist, and Mr Jones was requested to forward a copy of the resolution to Mr McKenzie, who has recently removed to Napier. The question of the proceeds of the late Bazaar, amounting to nearly £100 was raised, and Mr Startup proposed that the ladies in whose names the money stood at the Post Office Savings Hank, should be requested to hand over the money to the vestry. Objection was taken to this by some of the members, unless it was understood that the money should be held by the vestry for the purpose for which it was subscribed, such purpose, they alleged, was toward a fund for building a parsonage. From a discussion that ensued it appeared that some desired that the money should be applied in building a Sunday School, and the question was whether such an application of it could be made without the consent of the parishioners. Ultimately the question of the application of the money was allowed to stand over. On this understanding a resolution in favour of the money being handed over to the vestry was passed. It was stated that Mr Little had consented to act as choir-master and that a weekly practice of the choir would be held every Thursday evening. It was reported to the meeting that Miss Whyte had conssnted to play the organ for the morning service and Miss Short for the evening service. Mr Startup offered to take down the blind at the west window and consented, if the light was too strong, to have the window frosted at his own expense. The vestry granted him leave to do this.
