The State of Matto Grosso, an extensive province of Brazil, bordering on Bolivia, has declared itself an independant Republic. Anarchists have fired houses in many parts of Austria, and in Leonfreden a hundred houses were burnt.
A chest of dynamite has been stolen from a mill in Lower Austria.
Thirty dynamite cartridges were discovered underneath the railway line near Barcelona,
A bomb was found on the elevated railway in New York. A gang of anarchist incendiaries has been discovered in Brooklyn.
Anarchists are plotting in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and a state of siege has been proclaimed. One of the bombs found in the Spanish Chamber contained powder of English manufacture. The principal portions of Tokio have been destroyed by fire. By the fire six thousand houses were destroyed, and 50 people lost their lives.
The French Chamber of Deputies has voted the sum of three million francs for the purpose of suppressing the rising in Dahomey. The French Government has agreed to renew with Newfoundland the modus vivendi in connection with lobster fisheries.
The claimants of stock-raising rights in the State of Wyoming are fighting for their privileges, and it is reported that 46 persons have been killed, including 18 sheriffs and their officers.
Heavy floods have occurred in Alabama. Twenty persons have been drowned and 500 families rendered destitute. Immense damage has been done to property.
