H Tomlinson, reporting that he had registered eleven dogs duri-'g tbe month, and that he found the work of registration difficult, as people hid their dogs when he was going round. He had also found that some dog-owners in the Manawatu c >un*y had registered in the Manawatu Road Board District, and he asked the ruling of the council as to the legali.y of such registration. From J. H. Hankins, with regard to tram matters, closing roads, and the Horowh'-nua County Council dispute in reference to the Shannon Ferry. From D M. Brooks, announcing *hat as, owing to the illuess of bis wife, he would be obliged to take her to a warmer climate, hi wished to be relieved of his tramway contract. From J. G. Wilson, M. H. R., stating that he would attend to the request of the council in certain matters referred to him. From W. Howe, with reference to his deposit on his contract. From Anders in & Co., Oroua Bridge, desiring to buy some green flax on the road near the bridge. From A. Jensen, on the same sul ject. The following resolutions were agreed to : — Propo od by Cr Sanson, and seconded by Cr Robinson, " That a a committee consisting of the chairman and Crs Robinson. McKencie, McLennan, and the mover be appointed to inquire into the question as to which is the best site for the orection of the bridge over the Oroua river within the Campbell riding also to have power to obtain an estimate of the cost of a bridge tn Jones' line and report at the next meeting of this council." Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded by Cr Robinson and carried, *' That Mr Hank>ns be instructed to carry out the suggestion contained in his letter to this round 1 , dated the 12th of August, 1890, respecting the insertion of an arbitration clause in the agreement to .be made between the Council of Manawatu and H«*ro* whenua Council on tbe subject of the Shannon Ferry." Proposed by Cr Robinson, and sec nnded by Cr' Mitchell, "That W. McLennan, and seconded by Cr R binson, "That the overseer draw up specifications for claying about forty chains of the worst pnrt of the Taikorearoad. Tenders to be in by nexc meeting." — Carried. Tho Overseer reported that be had posed notices upon the bridges on the Feilding road, and they had been d faced nnd tf m down. Cr MoLennin said they should offer a reward for information li*ad* ing to the conviction of the of- .- fenders. Pr Mitchel proposed, and Cr RobinMon *ecnnded a n solution for the adoption <<f a bye-law preventing the fouling and impeding of rivers and stre ims within the c unty, and the resolution was carried* Cr M tchell, in supporting- the resolution, remarked thnt the time had nrrived fn- all local governing bodies to tale steps to prevent tlnir water courses from being polluted As popu'ation increased it would bee un- a seri us matter if their itreams werepduted, for instead of their banks being place 5 * of pleasant resort they won dbe shunned. Cr Sanson called attention to the fact that their were three head of catt'e lying on the S nson Carnarvou roadside, which had been killed by the tram engine, and said that the owners ought to receive notice to ro' move them Cr McLennan said that the law compile 1 persons whose cattle diad even within half a mile of a road to bury or burn them.
