ALLIES IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT.

DETERMINED TO-SUPPORT THE

POLES

■'(Reuters Telegrams. ) (Received Axis;. 10, 10.25 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. !). The Hythe Conference finished with a short afternoon sitting, held owing to the receipt of a further communication from Soviet sources, after which Mr Lloyd George and M. Millerand returned to their respective capitals. The former, upon his departure, was accorded an ovation.

It is officially stated that the Allies are in complete agreement in regard to action with reference to the Pqlish situation, subject, however, in the ease of Britain, to the approval of Parliament/

It is understood that the Allies are determined to support the Poles by technical advice and munitions, also possibly by naval measures; but Allied' troops will not be employed. Furthermore, it is semi-officially explained that the British Government tor three months had done its utmost to indue© Russia to come to terms, with a, view to removing the serious condition of affairs in Eastsm Jiurope, but the Russians appear to be determined to crush the Poles and impose upon Poland a, form of . covenrnent to which the great majority of roles strongly object. The Allies "feel'that it is their duty to do everything possible to' enable the 1 oles to maintain their independent,, because .Poland was created by the Ireaty of Versailles. Nevertheless, the issue must largely depend on the ability of the "Poles'themselves, wibh. such hoip as aforementioned, to repel the Russian attacks. The Minsk Conference between the I-oles and Russians will be held on August 10th. If the ■Russians then indicate their willingness to make reasonable terms different considerations will apply.. It is probable that Krassin and Kamenoff will be permitted to remain m-London until after August 11th, m order that the Government may learn oi what occurs at Minsk. In the event of the Minsk negotiations tailing it is likely that the Government will ask Krassin and Kame'ioff to leave Britain, on the ground that it is impossible to negotiate with them while the Allies are simultaneously taking steps to assist the Poles.
