KING 'GEORGE'S'MESSAGE.

The King cabled to . the* Imperial Press Conference as follows:' "The gathering mairks a new epoch; in the history of 'journalism. I hope that Hh efforts, by '.securing the freddom of the press, will end in the formation of well-instracted public opinions and promote 'all that tends to the..advancement of civilisation and of the ivoll-being, moral, social, and material., of the wand." OTTAWA, Aug. 5. Lord Atholstan, speaking at a banquet to the Press Conference delegates at Montreal, said that the Imperial spirit had developed, and the consensus of opinion ■vv.as that the press efforts would be unified for the solidification of the Empire.
