OffIIISTCHURCH, Aug. 4. At? the AddingtoiJ" market there was a big yarding of fat stock,, there boing a double market in view of the Grand National holidays next week. Fa,t cattle showed a nnu-ked jump on recent tales, and sold throughout for prime sorts at im advance of about 4s per ICOlb. The sale was remarkable for a record AustraJar-ian price for a bullock (£204), two local butchers competing. He was bred and fattened by Air R. W. Trotter, of Kurow, and had been a prolific prize-taker at southern shows. He is a pure-bred Shorthorn,, and his live weight :;s 30561b5. An aged purebred white Shorthorn bullock bred by the Riccarton Estate, live weight 30521ib5, brought £97. The yarding of fat cattle included entries freim Glen Oroua (Rangitikei; and Balclutha. The mutton yarding comprised a big proportion of prime quality, vendors boing represented from the North Island and tho western districts of Southland. The top price was for a Levin (North Island) Roranoy cross wether £9 10s, Southland! entries realising up to £6 10s. iStore Sheop: Tha.-e was a fairly large entry. The saile, Which opened at last week's rates, eased as the stile progressed. Wether hoggets 22s 7d to 27s 5d 3 ewe hoggets 28s to 31s Id, mixed sex hoggets 26s 8d to 29s 2d, cull hoggets lite tp 20s 9d, good twotaoth wethers 36s'3d to 375, ordinary two-tooh wethers 27s t<y 29s ls^ fairly good 2 3 4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes 32s Id, good sound-mouthed ewes 39s to 40s id, sound and failing mouthed ewes 27i-- to P. 2& 6d.
Fat Sheep_: A veiy heavy yarding, valiics showing an advance on last week s rates. For prime mut.tcn the values wore specially selected. Prime wetaers £5 to £9 10sj extra, prime wethers 60s to Jss, prime wethers 47s 6d to 57s 9d.Fai Cattle: % good yarding, comprising an unusual propoi-tion of good quality. A ke&n sale eventuated. Extra prime show bullocks £97 and £204, ex,tra. prime steers £40 to £58, prime steers £27 10s to £38, medium' steer's £19 to £20 15s, light and unfinished steers £12 15s to £18 10s, ! prime heifers £18 10s toi £25 125.6 d, ordinary heifers £13 10s to £18, .extra prime cows £30 10s, prime cows. £ls 15s to £22, ordinary cows £13 to £6 15s.
Veailers: A rise of os per head was experienced. Runners-to £11 10s, good veulors to C 7 7s 6d, medium to •£4 10s, inferior to 37s 6d. Store- Cattle: An improved sale. Three-year-old steel's to £15 10s, two-year-old steel's £3 10s, yearling steers ah(l heifers £6 10s, springing heifers £8 14s, yearling heifers £4 15s to £6 2s Gel, bulls £7 10s. X>airy Cattle • A fair yarding' and a good sals for all springing sorts.
