CANADA AND WEST INDIES

A new trade agreement between Canada and tho West Indies provides, inter alia, that tho present mutual preference of 20 per cent, be increased to 50. The fr-^o list is extended.
A woekly steamship service between Canadian ports and ihc/ eastern group of the West Indies is to be provided, also a fortnightly service with the western group. The various Indies Governments are to contribute the necessary subsidies.
The eastern service will start not later than January Ist and tho western as toon as possible. Tllie agreement is for ten years, subject to the approval of the Canadian Parliament, tho Indies Legislatures, and the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
