A farewell social :\nd dance were tendered 10 Mi- and Mrs Jos. Baughey in the Oddfellows' Hall, ■JRenwicktoivn, on .Wednesday evening last. . Mr Haughcy, who has received an appointment -under the Auckland Education Board, has filled the position of head teacher of the local :school for five years, during winch -lime'every scholar presented for proficiency examinations, with one exception, gained first-class, passes. (chairman of the School Committee) made eulogistic references, which were endorsed by the members of tho committee, to the -capability of Mr Haughey in the •■capacity of headmaster, and* to the popularity of both guests in private, life. The speaker also referred to the ifttorling services rendered by Mrs Haughey in connection with her activities in lied Cross work in the •district.
