ALTERATION OF RULE.
WELLINGTON, July 16. X The Conference decided, to substi-;; tiito the following for Rule 4, pautt 20. "Any o>vner who has never re*oived payment for training or riding sv hoi*&3 -nay tram his own horse without a trainer's license, providedl that such horse is trained under his. own personal superinteiidfenoe and that he «as obtairted from tho district coniTnittee written permission to train such horse.- No trainer or an owner •who has obtained written permission from the District Committee to train "his own horso shall witlioutt tho previous consent in writing of the Dis^*rict Committee employ any person^ whose last application for a license to train or rido Las been refused by any District Committee,- and such consent may *ifc any time be withdrawn l>y the District Copimittee."
The Conference also dealt favorably with, matters for the betterment of ihc ccnditions of apprentices.
A request by the jockeys was that between May .th r-nd August 31st incliisivG the last rac« of the day be. not fixed for a later hour than four o'clock, so) as to avioid danger through running races :"n the dark.
The O'onfei-once decided that within tho period stated! the last 'ratio of the day be act fixed for a later hour than a quarter past four o'clock.
