BASIS OF GOVERNMENT'S CONTRACT.

Ihe following decision was' arrived at after a, meeting between the Irmle Minister and the Minister for Agriculture and " representatives of the Wheat Trade Committee and the Wheat Controller. The basis of the government's contract for the purchase of next season's (1920-21) wheat crop will.be 7s 3d for Tuscan and. similar varieties, 7s 6d for Hunters, and 7s 9d for Pearl, all f.0.b., with three farthings increment per month for six months, commencing on May Ist. The foregoing basis is 'subject to the. following adjustments :—(a) In the event of New Zealand requiring to import an adjustment, will be made on the basis of the price at which milling wheat can be purchased in February, 1921, and landed ex wharf, having regard to quality and to the necessary adjustment between the North Island and the South Island; (b) in the event of New Zealand's growing sufficient for its requirements, an .adjustment will be made on the basis of the f.o.b. Australian value, provided that Australia has any exportable surplus, but in any case the purchase prices will not be less than the, minimum prices stated above for the respective varieties, with the monthly increment.
