ALLOWANCE WHEN ATTEND.

WELLINGTON, July 16. The allowance to limbless men who are attending the Defence Department's artificial limb factory and workshops for the repair or supply of artificial limbs will be increased from 5s to 7s 6d per diem as from August Ist next.

The Defence authorities state that it is to be understood that tiiis allowance is granted in lieu of accommodation in hospital .and the DirectorGeneral of Medical Services may instruct that a limbless man is required to reside in the hospital during his period of attendance, in which case t-lu^ allowance will not be payable.
