TOWN BOARDS AND HOUSING
[from our correspondent.]
WELLINGTON, July 15
In the consolidation of the Municipal Corporations Act an important change in the law is contemplated aifecimg the powers of town districts in carrying out housing schemes. Town boards, although' able to build workers' dwellings to let, are unable to sell them to tenants on easy terms, as can be done by boroughs. This is nn important matter, as there are runny town boards wishing to undertake housing. However, the Minister h.is provided in the consolidating measure that town districts shall have full powers regarding housing possessed by boroughs.
