ACQUISITION OF LAND.

The ■Returned Soldiers' Conference decided to urge the: Government ta put in operation forthwith the clauses of the Acts in force relating to- the compulsory "acquisition of land, that where practicable payment of land so acquired should be made by Government securities (bonds, etc.), that more stringent steps be taken to enforce the provisions of the Actr> relating to the imposition of the graduated land tax, with a view to forcing large landowners to place their land on the market.
