The success achieved foy the Blenheim and Pictom rinks during the progress of the Nelson Easter tournament was noted with pleasure by enthusiasts throughout the district. The fact that the Centre singles championship on Tuesday was won by G. J. Riddell (Pieton), with W. J. Eky (Blenheim) as runner-up is a cause of even greater satisfaction, and both •bowleis are to be congratulated on their performances. Tfn the first; round Riddell beat Eban ;(WakefieM) by 20 to 18, and Elvy deffi'aitea Smith (Nelson) by 20 to 15. In the following "two rounds Riddelli defeated Dodds (Maitai) by 17 to 12 and 3;rew aibye, >and Elvy prevailed over Eban (Wakefield) by 20 'to 11 and Griffin (Motuoka) by 23 to. 16. Tho two morning games at Nelson were time-limit, averaging about 13 heads, whilst the full 21 heads wore played in the (afternoon. In its first match: on Good Friday the Blenheim rink .encountered: a Nelson four skipped by B#tt. At the- seventh head tho score was 7 all; at the next head BLedheim were lying three when aA unlucky "wick" promoted one of _the Nelson bowls and) gave them the shot. Blenheim were four down after the next end, and although play was often in their favor they could not turn their advantage to good account. They had a somewhat similar experience in their second game, iand were defeated only by a narrow margin. Their third g;>me against aMotueka rink skipped by Boyes was most interesting;, the issue being, in •doubt until the last bowl was played. Elvy played soma remarkable shots. On the 20th head Boyes trailed the jack almost to ithe ditch and) held two ..shoto. one each side of the jack. Although the Jieid was well covered Elvy found a narrow path and rested his opponent's out with a, splendid bowl. With his last bowl ho drew round the whole bunch and! gained the shot. The result was a loss by only one point. On Saturday Blenheim won all of their games at Wakofield. In the fia*st match they defeated Eban's rink

by 10 to 8, and later prevailed over Bird's combination by 24 to 14.
