STATISTICS FROM MARL-

BOROUGH stations:

June, 1919, was a considerably drier month than June of last year, only a little over half the quantity of rain being recorded. The first six months of the present year compare even more unfavorably with the corresponding period of 1918. The following particulars have been supplied:— Blenheim: The rainfall for June of this year amounted to 2.02 inches, recorded on nine days, compared with 3.88 inches on eleven days in June, 1918. June, 1917, was even drier than last month, only 1.84 in. being recorded. ' Spring Creek: Last month 2.51' inches fell, on nine days, as against 4.33 inches, on twelve days, in June of last year. The total for the first six months of this year was 7.50 inches, registered on 40 days, compared with 16.31 inches, distributed over 46. days, ■ during the same period last year. Timara: The rainfall for June this year was 2.50 inches, as compared with 4.81 inches for the same month last year; The total for the six months to June 30th was 6.93 inches, distributed over 27 days; while for the same period of last year the fall was 17.54 inches on 35 days. Seddon: The fall for the month of June was 1.7 inches, the heaviest fall, recorded on the 21st, being 68 points. It may be remarked on as a coincidence that last year for the same month the heaviest rainfall was on the same date as this year, and also that rain was recorded on the same number of days—eight; but the total rainfall for June, 1918, was 2.21 inches. Hartley Hills, Hillersden: In June 2.05 inches fell, the quantity recorded during the corresponding month last year being 8.32 inches. For the first six months of this yeat the total was 10.26 inches, as against 27.57 inches for the same period of 1918. Ward: The rainfall for June was 1.15 inches. Rain fell on 6 days, the heaviest fall being 40 points on the 14th. '
