LONDON, June 29. A French communique .tates: Thei enemy were acjtive, last night on the A'sne front, fbllowlricr up a violent Bombardment by the liveliest attacks in the region of Cerriy, south-east of Cerbeny, and northTeast of Rheims. All attempts were shattered, and our posit'ohs'-;.>wer^ mamtained. Tlier struggle was particularly lively in the region of Cerhy, where the ehem y attacked several times at two different points. The" enemy gained a footing in our first line north-east of. Cerny, but an energetic counter-at-tackdrove thorny out. ■ ,-E There is an intense artillery, duel on the left bank of the Meuse, in the region of Avoeourt, and at the foot off Hill 304. After a violent bombardment'the Germans last night powerfully attacked with spe'f .a 1 storming troops on a. front of two kilometre, west of Hill 304-.- Our fire dis-v organised the attack/ which gained a footing at some points of our first line. Another enemy attempt east of Hill 304 this morning was "completely repulsed.
