[PROM OTTR CORRESPONPEK7 Tuesday; AN EXCELLENT CONCERT. Mrs Marriott's concert in aid of the Y.M.O.A. funds, held im the Town I Hall iast evening, was one of the most successful held here. By 7.30 the h.iil was well filled, and when the curtain rose at 8 o'clock all the standing room was occupied, and many lioldsrs of tickets were unable to get seats. About £30 was taken by the j sale of tickets and cash at the door, | other receipts bringing the total up j to over £88. Tho programme- was i one of exceptional merit, and scenery ' and dresses in many of the items be- j jng very good, indeed. Though the j rowel;.* element was much in evidence iit times at the back of the hall, the '. audience on the whole was an apprc- : ciatire one. During the singing of i the character song, uJn the Shadow of tho Pyramids," by Miss A. Wells, the sv.m 'of £2 17s Id was thrown upon the stage. This was a. very ■effective item,.-a view of the-pyramids, specially painted by Mr Charles Bryant, forming th© background. One of th« most j>opular items was "The Navy"—in character—by Mrs Marriott and chorus, several recalls having to be responded to. Many other Tsongs nni'l choruses had to be repeated, tli© concert concluding at 11 o'cloc-lc with tho singing of the National Anthem. Tho performers wore aftenvavfls entertained by Mrs Williams in the library, where suppet1 was nrovided. PATRIOTIC SPORTS. Tt is estimated that about 500 people attended the patriotic sports at B-ro'vnleo Park yestei'day. The weather was fine, and most of tho .jftlhtetic events resulted in closo

O'Donoghne's Cup was won by G. O'Neill, a returned trooper, and the shopping; and sawing events, in which two or three, old champions took part, attracted a considerable amount or interest. Several guessing and other competitions were largely .supported, and the ladies in charge of the re- j i'reshment marquee had a busy time. ! At the conclusion of the sports thw • trophies and other prizes were presented to the successful competitors by the president of the club, Mr W. j H. Buckman. j
