OAMARU, Feb. 4, A deputation from merchants waited on the A. and P. Association regarding the shortage of wheat problem.

Mr W. H. Rose, for the merchants,, advocated the urging of wheat-grow-ers to plant greater areas as an act of patriotism. He quoted statistics showing that North Otago had fallen off greatly in recent years in whoa* production. _ The _ society unanimously decidedimmediateiy to circularise wheatgrowers in the district- urging them. to piant more wheat next season.
