NEW ZEALAND'S SPLENDID FORCE.
LONDON, Jan. 12. - The Hon. T. Mackenzie, addressing the Now Zealanders at Cairo, said that Lord Kitchener had sent them *to Egypt for the purpose of training and guarding the Canal, which some people called the weakest link in the Imperial chain. He paid' a special tribute to the London contingent^ and said that the present splendid New Zealand force fulfilled his prophecy at Queen Victoria's jubilee, that if the Empire were ever threatened, New Zealanders would stand shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers of the Motherland.
