A MARINE DISPUTE.

PUTIXf HELD UP

WANGANTJI, June 18. The articles of the seamen on the Putiki expired on the 6th inst., and the seamen received a telegram from Mr Young, secretary of the union, to-day instructing them not to proceed to sea until fresh articles were drawn up.

In order to save trouble, the captain and agents decided to draw up fresh articles, and the men were paid off at ten o'clock this morning and up till five o'clock to-night. The men desired the articles to be dated to-day, and as payment starts from the date the .articles are signed, this would mean that the men would ilet two days' pay for one.-day's work. The carptain arid agents declined to agree to this, and a deadlock -ensued.
