GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS.

(Christchurch Press, Saturday.) There is little change to- note in the grain market, except that there is rather more inquiry from the Sofith Island for oats. Offerinigs from growers still continue very scarce. There is an improvement in the potato market, consequent upon the North Island centres becoming shorter of supplies. Owing, however, to growers having pitted their crops there are few sellers, though merchants a.r6 offering £3 ss, and in some cases £3 10s, at country stations. The under-mentioned are the prices paid to farmers at country stations, tree ,of commission, except where otherwise stated:—

Wheat.—(Nominal) Tuscan 3s s£d to 3s 6d, Hunters 3s 7d to 3s Bd. Pearl 3s 8d to 3s 9d.

Barley.—(Nominal). Prime malting 3s 6d to 4s, Cape barley 2s 3d. Oats.—(Nominal). Gartons A-grade 2s Id to 2s 2d, B grade 2s, Duns Is lid to 2s, Danish Is lOd to 2s, Algerians Is 9d to 2s.

Ryegrass.—ls 6d to 2s 3d Cocksfoot.—3d to 3£d, f.0.b., the Bays.

White Clover—To lOd. Cowgrass—9d £9 per ton, 1001b. bags £9 10s, 501b bags £9 15s, 251b bags £10. Bran—£4 15s local, £4 10s f.0.b.. per ton.

Pollard—£6 per ton^ Oatmeal—£l4 10s per ton. Oatsheaf Chaff—£3 5s for good sample.

Potatoes—£3 5s to £3 10s Onions—£7.

Peas, r— Partridge, 3s to 3s 3d; Prussian Blues 4s.

Beans—3s to 3s 3d. Linseed.—£lo 5s to £11. DAIRY PRODUCE.

Supplies of dairy produce are equal to trie demand, and prices are unchanged. Eggs a.re now becoming

more plentiful, and the price has been reduced 3d per dozen. • • Local prices are recorded as under:

Cheese.—Factory 6Jd, dairy 6d, loaf 6|d.

Butter — Factory 14d, farmers' separator lOd to I Id, dairy 9d to 10c!. Bacon.—Sides 92-d, rolls 10£ d, hams lid.

Honey.—Extracted, 3d per lb Wax.—ls to Is 2d per lb. Lard.—Bladders Bd, pats B|d Eggs.—ls 9d per dozen.
