LONDON, May 31. ! The mortality statistics of New York show that while the child's chances of life are far better than they were a generation ago, longevity is less common. I It lias been found that women have a- better, chance than men in the matter of old age, while the increased mortality among aged people has been : accompanied by an increase in the ■ consumption of meat and alcoholic drinks. j
