CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. A deputation waited on Mr G. W.Russell to enlist his support in abolishing the three-fifths majority on th© liquor question. Mr Russell, in reply, said that he was pledged to the electors of Avon to uphold the three-fifths majority, and he could not break bis pledge.
