MELBOURNE, Aug. 16. Senator Pearce has announced that the Australian cruiser Melbourne will be commissioned on January Ist, and will depart for Australia shortly afterwards. Her route is undecided. The battleship Australia and th© cruiser Sydney will visit Capetown and other South African ports at the mvitation of the South African Union. Ihey will leave England a few months after the Melbourne.
